gourmet meals, this is the ideal location for those who like a treat.

Curated by the venue owner Lisa Wilkinson and The Wicklow Escape team, be prepared to be pampered and taste wondrous seasonal delights.

Starting with welcome drinks and nibbles your first night is a three-course wood-fired meal at The Fiery our outdoor kitchen and pavilion with a hot tub under the stars.

On your second day enjoy a gorgeous continental breakfast whilst slumbering in your bed or in the historic long hall. Lunch is a flexible affair with a freshly prepared deluxe picnic which you can take out to the stunning grounds, in the woods or packed in a rucksack for you to take on a hike or a local excursion.

A finale five-course long table dining experience, with carefully curated wine pairings finishes off a perfect day.

Before you leave, we will see you off with a sumptuous breakfast to complete your stay in true foodie fashion. All produce is seasonal and either grown by us or locally sourced, so you can be assured it is delightfully fresh.

Day two - A continental breakfast, lunch or picnic. An evening dining experience with our seasonal and locally sourced five-course menu in the long hall with wine pairings.

Head Chef Mark Ahessy

Mark Ahessy takes up his position as Head chef at The Wicklow Escape in 2022. Coming from a pedigree of working alongside some of Ireland’s finest chefs Mark has worked in fine dining for many years in some of Ireland's best restaurants including Chapter One, L'Ecrivain and Pichet.

Working as sous chef alongside the late Michael Clifford he later returned as head chef in the newly opened Stonehouse restaurant, which under his capable hands gained entry into the Michelin Guide and received glowing reviews. Mark was nominated for Best Chef in both Leinster and Munster by the Restaurant Association of Ireland.

Starting his career as a chef over 20 years ago, Mark’s cooking in a small country house hotel in Tipperary was influenced by Ballymaloe style cooking. He then spent numerous years living and working in Kenmare at Mulcahy’s and the luxury Sheen Falls Lodge. Mark expanded his knowledge of ethnic and fusion in Taste at Bonsai by Dylan Mcgrath as well as 777, Hang Dai and Tiller and Grain. While Mark’s international travels and experiences have deeply influenced his cooking, he is passionate about Ireland's food produce and bringing out the best of quality local produce. Ultimately Mark is all about utilising the finest local Irish produce and cooking it with love and care.

Unique touches such as bespoke designed furniture, fresh french press coffee, gourmet nibbles on hand, along with specially selected pampering treats offer a welcoming surprise to help you make your stay memorable.

Wood-fired Hot Tub

Overlooked by the sugar loaf mountain, our wood-fired hot tub is available for you by pre-booking. Water is drawn directly from a spring in the mountain and the timber is sourced from our forest. The experience is fantastic for soaking away your tension, whatever the weather! The canopy of oak trees provides great shelter, but you can still see a sky full of stars.

The Great Outdoors

The west Wicklow mountains have an abundance of activities for every season, so you will never be left short of ways to make the most of your time.

Guests enjoy a guided forest walk on the second day of your stay and can extend this into a longer hike.

From the slopes of Lugnaquilla and the Sugarloaf to miles of forests, there are plenty of opportunities for your family and friends to breathe in the fresh air. Paddle in the Slaney or visit the many local attractions in the local area.
