Hike for Ukraine

Walk with us and support Ukraine
Sunday, April 10th at 10:30am

With the difficulty of processing this upsetting situation in Ukraine, we invite you for this restorative walk, and to nourish yourself afterwards at The Wicklow Escape, where we will complete our forest journey.
2 hikes available – one up the West Wicklow Sugar loaf (2 hours) and another gentler walk through the forest (40 mins). The hike is suitable for those who can navigate forest terrain.
Every booking includes tea, coffee, scones, and other pastries provided in the outdoor dining area of The Wicklow Escape. Woodfired lunch will also be available at an extra cost.

We are looking forward to seeing you tomorrow.
Just a little housekeeping. Our numbers have grown so we have changed the parking location to our neighbours house Eircode W91 YT68.
From the village As you pass the escape on the left take the sharp bend to the right and then the first entrance into the Mackey’s farmyard is on your right.
From Knockinarrigan you will pass the gate on your left just before a really sharp bend with a newly build cottage right on the road.

Don’t forget to bring water, and dress for Irish weather. See you in the carpark from 10:15 onwards. We will walk from there past the escape to the forest road meeting at 10:35.

Additional Wagyu beef burgers, and sides will be available post hike in the Fiery at The Wicklow escape for €14.50 each. All profits to our charity. All food donated by our gracious farming suppliers and neighbouring producers.

Supporting children from Ukraine

The current armed conflict directly affects the most vulnerable – abandoned and orphaned children in Ukraine. The ongoing war, the fear associated with it, and the feeling of helplessness are another shocking experience they have to deal with. Many children from children’s homes have been left without any care from adults. Their caregivers left them because they are currently fighting at the front or they evacuated with their families. Thousands of Ukrainian orphans have arrived in Poland in recent weeks. Our hearts are being torn apart listening to traumatizing stories from our colleague’s friends who are volunteering at the Polish border and in SOS Children’s Villages in Poland. SOS Children’s Villages in Poland is part of the international organisation SOS Children's Villages. SOS Children's Villages in Poland support around 16,000 Ukrainian children in foster care and institutional custody by finding them a haven, organising transport, food, medical and psychological assistance.
