Reboot and Restore

February is a perfect month to get to grips with your plans and desires. Not only because it’s short and the timescale seems a bit more bearable but it’s a time for movement.  You might not be able to see the shoots of new plants stirring but they are growing. Your own ideas and desires are germinating too. With this in mind we’ve planned a fun packed weekend to encourage you clear the settling dust off the promises and intentions you set at the beginning of the year.

As a follow on from our popular one day escape in January, we have extended the programme to two nights.  This energising weekend includes a combination of muscle activation, yoga, core conditioning and pilates classes. You will be ready to climb any mountain, jump many streams, and maybe a puddle or two.  

Throw in some clean eating, super green juices and hot tub recovering fun, and this weekend will motivate and inspire you start anew or to continue on your one person wellness campaign. Let’s face it, as much as we’d all like to delegate the job of maintaining our own health and fitness, we can’t.

Nutritionally packed meals

To make sure that you are fed and nurtured our fabulous chef, Catriona Nic Philbin, (Master Chef competitor 2012) has planned a carefully balanced menu of wholesome, super healthy, veggie food with regular infusions of super green juices, served with a good dose of laughter.

The weekend is open to all levels. We will nurture and help you to work within your ability and maybe a bit beyond it and if you prefer to skip a class  and find a quiet spot to meditate we wont mind.

9.00 – Arrival with welcome green cleansing Juice.

9.30 – 11.00 – Body Conditioning based on yoga and Pilates postures.

11.00- 12.00 –  Healthy wholesome vegetarian brunch

12.00 – 15.00 –  3 hour hike into the beautiful Wicklow hills. Expand your horizon and lungs. Please bring seasonally appropriate clothing. Hiking boots or strong walking shoes and waterproofs recommended.

15.00 – 16.30 – Warming Soup and delicious salads followed by time to relax and set intentions for the year ahead

16.30 -18.00 Hatha yoga with Bev. The after hike stretch, starring shoulders, hips and hamstrings.

18.30 – Leave with the kickstart to take you into 2017 feeling great.

Bev Porrino

My first experience of yoga was in the early 90's and falls somewhere between the realm of amusement and humiliation. I was about 25 years old, a runner and cyclist and like most of people, I initially went to yoga to become more flexible. As an athlete I was result driven and competitive and as yoga encompasses neither of these traits, I veritably suffered.

Back in those days Jane Fonda headbands and neon lycra were compulsory, and as a dedicated fashionista, my leggings clashed with the linen-clad yogi-hippies who remained oblivious to my pain as they quietly breathed and effortlessly stood on their heads. I'm glad I kept on going back because that little deviation from my norm eventually led to some amazing life changes and I became a teacher of yoga.

Going back a little further, I qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1987 and some years later I was Operations Manager in a busy Social Work department. Yoga and fitness helped me to manage my stress. In the summer of 1999, a conversation over a pizza and a beer brought about an incredible life change that wasn't exactly planned.  I changed my career and moved to Amsterdam. I taught yoga and fitness classes, designed in-house training and education programmes for a chain of gyms and eventually went on to open Amstel Yoga Lounge.

In 2012, I relocated to Dublin. I'm a yoga teacher, a writer and a Be Activated -Neuromuscular Activation Practitioner and I truly love my work.
