After the huge success of our sell-out workshop in March, we are delighted to announce our second Permaculture event of 2019. Whether you have been on one of our past workshops or completely new to Permaculture, this event is for you.
Join us in our beautiful permaculture garden located in the stunning Glen of Imaal. With a promise to provide a kitchen garden to our chefs, we will be more hands-on during this workshop with practical advice from our exceptional permaculture gardener, Noel Clinton, who will guide us in design, planting, composting and much more!
Join us for this comprehensive one day course at our beautifully designed garden (that will be in full bloom) and be part of the food revolution while getting all the information you need to GIY (Grow It Yourself). Then feast on some local organic fare in our beautiful cabin with your new green-fingered friends.
During this workshop you will learn:
1: Getting Started: Design and application
2: Practical Placement of Garden Elements
3: Structures in the Design: Sheds, Greenhouses, Fencing, Trellis etc. Placement and best usage
4: Designing your growing areas: Shape, Size and Rotations
5: Soil, Mulch and Compost: Getting down with the dirt, you Dig!
6: Pests and Disease: Techniques for prevention and treatment
7: Watering: Butts and other stage, gravity drip feeding and conservation techniques.
The majority of this event will (weather permitting!) mostly take place outside in the elbowroom escape garden, an area will be used as a hypothetical suburban/urban garden where practical examples of the above points will be discussed and shown.
Noel will work with all the participants over the day and focus his teaching on your own requirements so that you can take the tips and discussions back to your very own garden and put what you learnt into practice.

I have 12 years experience working in the landscaping/horticulture sector. As a qualified Landscape Architect, I worked in professional practice before embarking on a 5 year work/travel period where I worked on a number of organic farms in Australia, NZ and the Czech Republic and within the Forestry sector on the Isle of Wight. I also completed my Permaculture Design Course in Tasmania. Having returned to Ireland I have split my time between working on various organic farms and design/consultancy. I completed my MSc in Organic Horticulture in 2015.
I believe that diversity is key to the success of most projects. Whether this is ideas, people or plants it's always better to have a diverse mix as opposed to a singular ideal. The perfect example is on the soil on which we stand. A single teaspoon of healthy soil contains over a billion bacteria and thousands of more soil microbes which work together to create fertility on which we, and countless more species, depend for existence. As gardeners, farmers and citizens of the planet we have the power to not 'walk the party line' of conventional food production wisdom which has been detrimental to soil but return to the holistic and organic approach of our forefathers/mothers creating healthy soil and therefore healthy people and ultimately a healthy planet.
