Autumnal Equinox
Escape into nature and celebrate the Autumn Equinox in the beautiful Wicklow mountains with the fabulous Bev Porrino.
Bev has created a weekend of her favourite practices including Yoga Nidra, Pilates, Hatha yoga and for those of you inclined, a led hike. If that doesn’t take your fancy you are invited to wrap yourself in a blanket – if we run out of cotton wool- and toast yourself around our gorgeous wood-burner with a good book. There’s also plenty of time to relax in the hot tub nestled at the forest’s edge where you can watch the season turn.
Join us for a lighthearted, no pressure weekend of fresh air, great food, and beds that have been described as ‘possibly the most comfortable on the planet.’
We set the tone for the weekend on Friday with a beautiful Yoga Nidra to welcome the Autumn Equinox. On Sat there are a number of offerings from simple Pilates exercises to strengthen your core, a guided hike, yoga to stretch out your muscles and a mini-workshop on Be Activated Techniques – A practice that is new to Ireland and demonstrates how clever your body is at adapting and compensating. Bev will share some simple techniques and breathing exercises that will teach you how to correct muscle imbalances so that you can move better and release your body from tension and pain.
If you should choose to skip some of the classes in favour of some extra dream time we promise to tip toe around you.
Delicious and nutritious vegetarian cuisine prepared and cooked with love and served to you in the cosiest wood cabin in Ireland.

My first experience of yoga was in the early 90's and falls somewhere between the realm of amusement and humiliation. I was about 25 years old, a runner and cyclist and like most of people, I initially went to yoga to become more flexible. As an athlete I was result driven and competitive and as yoga encompasses neither of these traits, I veritably suffered.
Back in those days Jane Fonda headbands and neon lycra were compulsory, and as a dedicated fashionista, my leggings clashed with the linen-clad yogi-hippies who remained oblivious to my pain as they quietly breathed and effortlessly stood on their heads. I'm glad I kept on going back because that little deviation from my norm eventually led to some amazing life changes and I became a teacher of yoga.
Going back a little further, I qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1987 and some years later I was Operations Manager in a busy Social Work department. Yoga and fitness helped me to manage my stress. In the summer of 1999, a conversation over a pizza and a beer brought about an incredible life change that wasn't exactly planned. I changed my career and moved to Amsterdam. I taught yoga and fitness classes, designed in-house training and education programmes for a chain of gyms and eventually went on to open Amstel Yoga Lounge.
In 2012, I relocated to Dublin. I'm a yoga teacher, a writer and a Be Activated -Neuromuscular Activation Practitioner and I truly love my work.
